Cherries Counteract Stress-related Excessive Weight Gain

by Sri Regine Lherisson-Bey

While countless people think that cherries are just a delicacy to be occasionally consumed, scientific studies are proving that the said fruits feature stress-controlling and health-restoring effects. Cherries help counteract two rogue hormones: cortisol, a stress hormone, and ghrelin, a hunger-triggering hormone. Both hormones relate to the type of oxidative stress that causes excess weight gain.

Cherries are power-packed with the very nutrients that lessen the effects of cortisol and ghrelin. Even though cortisol helps activate the fight-or-flight response when a person is under stress, it can also insidiously induce major cravings for sweets, high caloric foods, heavily salted foods, and artery-clogging saturated fats.

Now that obesity, diabetes, and other metabolic disorders are rated as sky-high, many people are becoming aware that eating ultra-processed food is the equivalent of using industrial waste by-products found in fast food and junk food, as weapons of self-destruction.

Because most individuals are not trained to understand the root causes of their health issues, they end up ingesting petrochemical compounds — with a pill for every ill — continuously treating their symptoms, therefore perpetuating their illnesses. Fortunately, cherries provide a solution to the experience of stress that constitutes a life threat.

Advanced nutrition scientists, cell biologists, and neurobiologists have been reliably demonstrating that prolonged and sustained stress is a major contributor to excessive weight gain, obesity, inflammatory conditions, and related degenerative diseases.

Cherries contain highly concentrated plant compounds known as polyphenols, plus multiple other beneficial  nutrients such as vitamins and minerals. They serve to detoxify and also nourish the body in ways that can eventually assist it with reaching homeostasis over time, with regular consumption.

In the quantum medicine community, world renowned Dr. Bruce Lipton, Cell Biology specialist, professor of medicine, and bestselling author of The Biology of Belief, has been at the forefront of mind-body education, creating awareness on the implications of toxic foods in connection with stress. People of the world are greatly benefiting from Dr. Lipton’s insight on the damaging effects of stressors leading to cellular damage and all types of diseases, mainly inflammation-causing obesity.

Since the Spring season is now well established and cherries are available to all, it is an opportunity to start using cherries as stress-eliminating medicine and body-trimming food.
